Did you know that saving water can help improve your water pressure?

< Back to Advice

As we all enjoyed the glorious sunshine over the last couple of weeks, we have had a few customers get in touch with us over concerns with a drop in their water pressure.

It is simple, when the weather is hotter the demand for water is higher which can result in low pressure during peak periods.

On Sunday 31st May we supplied a record high of 111,900 litres of water to customers in one of our areas which has 170 occupied properties. This suggests each person is using up to 260 litres per day. This is well over double the government’s target of 110 to 120 litres per person per day.

Speaking of watering the garden – did you know it is better to water your plants in either the morning or at night on a hot day? It will prevent the amount of water lost to evaporation.
Using mulches around your shrubs and flowers can prevent any water that you use from evaporating.
Love your brown lawn! Lawns can survive long periods of dry weather if the grass is not cut too short.
Invest in a water butt to collect water from your roof. You can fit a hosepipe or use a watering can.
